Nguyen Sang graduated from the College of Fine Arts of Indochina. In 1946, he took part in the first war of resistabce in Viet Bac area. His works include primarily wood engravings and lacquer and oil paintings. He nis one of the masters of modern Vietnamese lacquer painting. His unique style is characterized by an effort towards conceptual synthesis which aims at bringing out the soul of things and the real, the concise intellectualized expression is that of an ascetic bareness which, nerevtheless, does not give an impression of austereness. He rarely resorts to the perspective of Western perspective.
