November 6-27, 2002
Opening of the new art gallery • ART VIETNAM • in Hanoi. This beautiful gallery is located at 30 Hang Than Street and is owned and operated by Suzanne Lecht. The opening exhibition "Light of the Spirit" features woodcut artist Le Quoc Viet and lacquer artist Tran Hoang Son. The opening reception was held on November 6 at 6:00 pm.

June 8-July 15, 2002
The IAP's Sister School Program sponsors a delegation of three to the United States. The delegation includes the Principal of the Vo Truong Toan Middle School Mr.Tran Van Loc, and Mr Le Cong Hau and his son Le Ngoc Phuong, one of the top students at the Vo Truong Toan Middle School. They visited several schools in the United States with the goal of establishing a sister school relationship betwee tne Vo Truong Toan Middle School and a private middle or high school here.

In mid June they held meetings at Concord Academy in Concord, MA, and Nobles and Greenough School in Dedham, MA. Both schools were very excited about froming a sister school relationship and will work in the future to create programs that will benefit students and faculty of both schools. March 25-April 10, 2002
The trip continued with Thomas joined by Lois Tarlow and Gretchen Evert. This portion of the trip included Ankor Wat in Siem Riep, Cambodia, and Hue and Ho Chi Minh City. Tarlow and Evert gave a workshop on solar printmaking at the Hu Fine Arts College. The workshop will use the etching press donated to the Hue Fine Arts College by Joan Weiner.

March 7-24, 2002
A group of Massachusetts College of Art students travelled to Vietnam as part of the IAP's Sister School Program and Mass/Art's ongoing International Programs. The group was lead by Mass/Art faculty member Janna Longacre and IAP director David Thomas. This course is designed to give students exposure to Vietnamese culture, art, and history.

Under the IAP's Sister School Program, a delegation of three artists and teachers from Ho Chi Minh City will be in Boston to study at the Massachusetts College of Art for the spring semester. The Massachusetts College of Art is the Sister School to the Ho Chi Minh Fine Arts College, The three artists are: Miss Ngo Thai Uyen, one of Vietnam's leading fashion designers, Miss Nguyen Thi Phuong Duyen, painter and Public Relations Officer and Librarian at the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Association, and Mr. Nguyen Long, graphic designer and teacher at the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts College.
