As Seen by Both Sides: American and Vietnamese Artists Look at the War

C. DAVID THOMAS

David Thomas, organizer of this exhibition, is a man of enormous patience, commitment and persistence. Undaunted by bureaucratic red tape, hours of letter writing, funding problems, and countless unexpected hitches, he never even considered quitting. He was driven by a desire to unite in peace the people of Vietnam and the United States and to change the official American policy against Vietnam.

"The one image of the war that has never left me is that of the children. They were the true victims of the war. When I returned to Vietnam in 1987, it was again the children whose faces would not leave me. They are the continuing tragedy of the war. Adults make war and children inherit the aftermath"
